After a few days of being back to reality and still kicking myself for actually being in Italy for almost a month, I have to share 10 of my best in-flight beauty routines that will kick that mile-high skin of looking dull and dehydrated.
These easy 10 tips will have your skin looking like you just got a facial rather than stepping off of a plane. Did you know that while being 30,000 feet in the air, the moisture in your skin is being sucked out by pressurized air in the cabin? It’s true! This causes havoc in the skin and can contribute to dry skin, breakouts, blotchiness, etc.
Start your holiday with great skin with these 10 tips! Ciao!
TIP #1: Bring an empty water bottle
TSA doesn’t allow liquids such as water while going through security, so bring an empty water bottle and as soon as you get to your boarding gate, fill up your water bottle with water. No offense, but those little cups of water that they pass out is a joke. Hydrating is key. Drink tons of water and keep refilling your bottle. Avoid alcohol when flying.
TIP #2: Travel Pillow
Sleep is extremely important, but also hard when you’re on a flight. I just discovered this amazing memory foam pillow that is so soft and thick that as soon as you put it on, you’re out like a light bulb. No joke! It’s worth every penny of $35. It rolls up, so you don’t have to worry about it taking up too much space in your carry-on. www.cabeau.com
TIP #3: Facial Wipes
For long flights, forget the full face of makeup. Refresh your face with travel friendly facial wipes that make your skin feel refreshed and remove last traces of dirt. We recommend Aubrey calming skin therapy cleansing wipes that is soothing and hydrating. Love that it’s all natural and doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils. www.aubrey-organics.com
TIP #4: Sleeping Mask
While you’re trying to get as much beauty sleep as possible, wear a sleeping mask that will help hydrate your skin. It’s a clear translucent gel formula that can be worn for 8 hours. After your beauty sleep, wipe off with your cleansing wipes. Laneige makes a perfect sleeping mask. A Korean brand that now sells at www.target.com
TIP #5: Facial Mist
After removing the sleeping mask, give your face a refresher and add some hydration back into your skin. Maya Water is a mineral rich facial mist and will help balance your pH level. They even make a travel friendly size and you can even set your makeup with it. www.mayawater.com
TIP #6: Moisturize with Face Oil
Adding a face oil will help moisturize your skin, leaving it dewy and healthy. Don’t be afraid to use this. It does wonders for your skin and help retain that moisture for that supple look and feel. There are a few face oils that I’m in love with from Mun and African Botanics. www.munskin.com and www.africanbotanics.com
TIP #7: Eye Mask
Sleeping is a huge part of looking refreshed and the more sleep you can get on a plane, the better. You will always have that one person though that has to turn on those bright lights while everyone else is trying to get some shut eye, so be sure to bring an eye mask to avoid getting blinded by the light.
TIP #8: Lavender Oil
Traveling can be stressful, especially when you’re flying for a day and a half. When I want to calm my body, I add a little lavender oil behind my ears, behind the neck and under my nose. This pure oil instantly relaxes me and releases any muscle tension. You can even add a few drops of this to the eye mask. www.doTERRA.com
TIP #9: Conceal those bags
Getting ready to land to your destination, add a dab of concealer under the eyes and beside your nose area. This will automatically have you looking bright eyed bushy tailed. RMS Beauty makes the best concealer “un” cover up and it hides every dark circle . It’s my secret weapon. www.rmsbeauty.com
TIP #10: Get an instant glow with a lip and cheek stain
After all that traveling, nothing is prettier than a fresh faced glow. Adding a lip and cheek stain to a bare face can add the perfect pop of color to brighten your skin. In love with RMS Beauty lip2cheek in beloved. It’s the perfect pop of red that look so effortlessly beautiful that can be worn on the lips and cheek. A great dual travel companion. www.rmsbeauty.com
Try these tips and I guarantee you will be looking like you just stepped out of a spa and not a plane. Another beauty is that these were all perfect for traveling!
