This year we decided to go on a family ski trip to Deer Valley since Kenji had a project there. It was my first time ever to Park City/Deer Valley, so I didn’t know what to expect other than it would being freezing cold compared to the summer weather we are used to year-round. Although I’m not much of a skier, I heard the spas in Deer Valley are amazing and yes, it was a spas lover’s dream! Since Kaia is only a year and a half, she couldn’t ski since the age starts at 3, but there were so many other great things to do with the family. Stein Eriksen Lodge is a luxury European Style ski-in/ski-out hotel just a few miles up from the center of Park City. After staying here for a few days, I wanted to share the best things to do here!

Here are my top 10 things to do at Stein Eriksen Lodge:

YOGA

I love doing yoga and it never seems like working out to me- more like a great stretch.  Stein Eriksen Lodge offers complimentary yoga classes throughout the day which is such a nice amenity! You can get a great stretch/workout on and off the slopes.

HIT THE SLOPES

For all you skiers, this property offers ski-in/ski-out that comes with a ski valet and your private ski locker so that you’re not trekking your equipment back and forth. Deer Valley is only for skiers, so if you snowboard, you must go down to Park City which is only a 10-minute shuttle ride. (Complimentary shuttle ride)

TAKE A DIP

They have a heated outdoor pool that allows you to take a soak and enjoy the views!

S’MORES HOUR

This was one of our favorite things to do every day at 4:30 p.m. near the fireplace. They would bring out a beautiful tray of the s’mores making and you can then make your very own s’mores.

MAKE A SNOWMAN

SEL has an actual snowmaking kit, so we were so excited that we could build our own snowman with Kaia. It was freezing out, so daddy ended up finishing the snowman for us. Ha!

SPA

This is Utah’s only Forbes Five-Star Spa, and all guests are welcomed to use the spa amenities. I loved coming here when Kaia went down for the night to just have a little mommy time.

HISTORIC MAIN STREET

The hotel offers a free shuttle every 30 minutes to drive down to historic main street in Park City, which I highly recommend. You can walk around to boutique shops, art galleries and dining. SEL makes it very convenient and will come back to pick you up as well, which is helpful. This is such a cute little ski town!

DINING

While the hotel has a few dining options, we also love trying local restaurants. Our favorite meal time at Stein Eriksen Lodge was breakfast. It had a gorgeous view and enjoyed starting out our day with a delicious breakfast buffet while watching the snow. Park City offers some amazing restaurants for everyone. Our two favorite places to dine, were Riverhorse and Handle. For Riverhorse, go early and get a seat next to the window. The view is incredible during sunset time. The food here is one of the best restaurants in all of Park City/Deer Valley. Handle is another local restaurant to check-out. They offer a daily, new menu and work with local farmers in the area for their farm-to-fork crafted cuisine. Both are great for families.

WINTER FUN FOR ALL

You don’t have to ski to visit Deer Valley. There are so many other things to do in the winter here and it’s so much fun for everyone to enjoy. Make a memorable winter vacation by taking a sleigh ride, dog sledding, tubbing, snowshoeing or snowmobile riding. Talk to the concierge team to coordinate your fun adventure!

SHOPPING

The boutique they have at SEL (Bjorn Stova boutique clothing store) has an amazing selection of luxury style ski wear styles for both men and women that will keep you looking chic on and off the slopes. Don’t worry if you forgot to pack something, even your swimsuit. They’ve got you covered and the beauty is, you don’t even have to leave the property.

TRAVEL TIPS FOR THE RESORT:

  • Stein Eriksen Lodge is a 45 minute drive from Salt Lake City Airport. I highly recommend just hiring a private shuttle service or UBER, which it only cost $40 one-way, rather than renting a car.
  • This luxurious 5-star property offers complimentary shuttle rides within the Park City town area.
  • Before arrival, use their in-room grocery delivery service for $27 per hour (plus a 20% gratuity) to stock up your room with your favorite snacks and drinks.
  • SEL offers an on-site child care service that starts at $26 per hour for one child so that you can enjoy a little time to your self to hit the spa, slopes or date night. We loved using this service and Kaia was in great hands. Our sitter even brought tons of toys and books to keep her entertained.
  • We loved that our suite came with a full-size kitchen and washer and dryer. When traveling with kids, these two in-room amenities make traveling so much easier to make your home away from home. Our stay was amazing and highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a little getaway. Being a huge beauty junkie, I loved the Molton Brown toiletries in our suite!
