For the last year I have been obsessed with Kimberly Snyder and her Green Glowing Smoothie {GGS}.

Green Glowing Smoothie {GGS}

Kimberly has traveled the world and noticed that women in the most poorest countries have beautiful, radiant skin and look far younger than the women in the Western world despite our diets, gyms, and makeup. Snyder has taken her knowledge from her travels in other countries and applied them to a approach where counting calories and food restrictions are out the window. She is the celebrity nutritionist to Drew Barrymore, Fergie, Hilary Duff, LeAnn Rimes, Channing Tatum, Ben Stiller and many others..

Kimberly has a book called The Beauty Detox Solution. I like to call this book the modern day manual to the human body and a must have in your library collection.

The Beauty Detox Solution

When I started my job at the corporate offices for David Yurman in NYC and I was going through orientation, I was over the moon when I heard we had a juice bar! No way, I have to see this I thought to myself. So I visit the 11th floor where the Juice Barista, Gabe {a warm loving hippy type who looks like he is from Eugene, Oregon} is mixing up all these amazing healthy concoctions. Then I spot my favorite kitchen appliance, the VitaMix. I am obsessed with the VitaMix and Snyder swears by hers, saying that it breaks down the nutrients to a molecular level that your body absorbs better. Make a green glowing smoothie {GGS} in a regular blender then try it with a Vitamix you can totally tell the difference. Costco sells them for $499 for a super package or you can get them reconditioned for $329.

So I start my mornings off every day with a GGS. I have to admit, going from a sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted English muffin to drinking a GGS, I wasn’t sure if it would fill me up. It does, maybe it took a little bit of training to do, but it worked. I start my morning out every day with a GGS, unless I drank too much the night before and in that case, I need the sausage, egg and cheese. 🙂 You will see a huge difference in how you feel, look, and your cravings throughout the day are nonexistent.

I have amended my GGS a little.

Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie Ingredients:
-1 1/2 cups water
-1 head organic romaine lettuce, chopped
-3-4 stalks organic celery
-1/2 head of a large bunch, or 3/4 of a small bunch of spinach
-1 organic apple, cored and chopped
-1 organic pear, cored and chopped
-1 organic banana
-Juice of 1/2 fresh organic lemon

Optional:
-1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems okay)
-1/3 bunch organic parsley (stems okay)

Directions:
Add the water and chopped head of romaine to the blender. Starting the blender at low speed, mix until smoothi. Gradually moving to higher speeds, add the celery, apple and pear. Add the cilantro and parsley, if you are choosing to add them. Add the banana and lemon juice last.
The fruit and lemon cut right though the grass taste. Feel free to mix and match different greens and fruits, as these two specific food groups combine well.

I have amended the recipe a bit an instead of using organic romaine, I use organic kale. I also have added half of a cucumber and half of a avocado. This is delish, give it a shot! I have got all the Yurman girls on my floor drinking it, including a couple of the guys!

Enjoy!
