We’ve all got that one thing that drives us bananas. Or at least I do. I’m ageing and a mother to a toddler. I have always had forehead creases and it just seemed to keep getting worse. I decided to take action into my own hands and get botox for the very first time. I’m not going to lie, I was that person that hated on the people that did get it and thought botox made you look “plasticky”. (And no, botox does not make you look plasticky)

I went into my appointment at Honolulu MedSpa with my provider Courtney, who is one of their nurse’s.(She is amazing and does real magic!) She immediately made me feel so comfortable and told me to start off in small dosage of units and then we can gradually work our way up. That sounded great, because honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I was a little scared that my face wouldn’t move. Haha!

She first took some before photos of me making some funny looking expressions, cleaned the area with alcohol and numbed my forehead with ice packs. Courtney began injecting my forehead and crow’s feet area with 20 units of botox. It literally only took about 10-15 minutes if that. I was in and out. I now know why people have botox lunch parties. Ha!

After going home from my appointment, my friends asked me questions about my procedure since I gave them some live social media postings of getting botox for the first time. Here are some questions that I thought would be helpful if you’re considering it.

Did it hurt? Not at all. Courtney used tiny little needles and it felt like a little pinch.

Do you see results immediately? No. It usually takes about 2-4 days for the botox to settle. Since this was my first time, it took about a good week to see results.

How does it feel? After the week of getting botox, my eyebrows felt a little heavy, but that is a normal feeling. It went away about 5 days later.

Do you bruise? I didn’t bruise, but Courtney did say that if I did bruise, it was very normal and would go away within a few days.

How long does it last? 3 months or longer. It wears off gradually. I’m due for another appointment next month.

Did you tell a huge difference? OMG yes! I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner. It seriously is the best thing since sliced bread. All of my forehead wrinkles diminished and my crow’s feet were gone. I can now make expressions and you won’t see a bunch of rolls on my forehead. I don’t look frozen either. 😉

How much is it? Honolulu MedSpa gives the best pricing on the island and it’s $13 per unit. Not only are their rates competitive, they truly treat you like family here.

Did someone know that I had “work” done to my face? Absolutely not, you just look so much better! Trust me.

Courtney wanted me to do a follow-up appointment to see how my botox was settling in, so I went in a month later. Since we took it easy on the first appointment, she did an additional 10 more units on my follow-up. So for my forehead and crow’s feet total, I did 30 units. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love botox. It’s a great preventative measure too so that your lines won’t continue to get deeper.

(In all before and after photos above, I’m wearing no makeup to give you the true before and after results. All I’m wearing is lipgloss in both. I mean look at that smooth forehead!! I tried to do the same funny expressions Courtney had me do so that you can see the side-by-side) All opinions are my own.
