After traveling for a month, I really needed to unwind my body, mind and spirit with a day of pampering and that’s exactly what I did.
I booked a fabulous signature treatment at The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Maui, called E Ola Hau (Hawaiian Healing Wrap). It’s my favorite resort on the island, located in Wailea and with it’s award-winning spa, I couldn’t think of a better place to spend my afternoon.
Waiting in the relaxation room for my treatment, I was enjoying the organic ginger tea along with local dried fruits such as mango, coconut and bananas that was in a dish.
I was greeted by Rahimo, who was lovely and she took me to the treatment room and asked what type of music I would like to listen to while enjoying my creme de la creme pampering. She went into detail of how the treatment was going to be done and showed me a nice display of products that were going to be used on a koa dish before we got started.
The E Ola Hau is a 2-hour traditional island treatment that begins by exfoliating the skin. Then, with healing Hawaiian noni gel, they wrap you in warm tī leaves. Meanwhile, enjoy a warm coconut-kukui hair treatment and a heated-stone face massage. This lush ritual is completed with a full-body massage.
As I was lying on a comfortable bed with dim lighting and relaxation music, Rahimo started to exfoliate my body with coconut, coconut oil and sugar. I could feel the slough of dead skin coming off of my body and rejuvenating my skin. She then showered me down to get ready for my wrap.
TIP: It’s really important to exfoliate your body and face as dead skin builds up and that leads to dull, rough skin and blemishes. You should be exfoliating a minimum of once per week. It’s beautiful and healthy to have that nice glow to your skin, rather than dullness.
She then applied the noni gel all over my body, wrapping me in warm tī leaves, sheets and blankets. I could feel my skin soaking it all up.
Noni is a great moisturizing agent and it also helps reduce the signs of aging. It also contains other substances that helps to repair damaged cells in the body and activate the immune system.
While being wrapped up, Rahimo gave me great facial massage using heated stones and put a coconut-kukui oil treatment in my hair, which are great deep conditioning treatments for your scalp and hair.
Being wrapped up for about 25 minutes, she then started to unwrap me and shower me down with a warm vichy shower. It felt so relaxing…
After that amazing treatment, I got a full body massage and she used a lilikoi body butter that smelled so yummy and delicious! My whole body felt like a baby’s bottom and I was glowing from head-to-toe.
The whole experience was wonderful and I loved how they used local grown products for this treatment. You will also find that the spa features organic beauty and body products. I can’t wait to come back to this slice of heaven.
