We thought it would be fun to do a blog post on the most asked questions we get while we both celebrate Mother’s Day! (A day late I know… Kathy was busy traveling with Spyder and Shape Magazine and Cindy just moved to a new city! #momlife). This was such a fun little photo shoot we did with Tahiti Huetter before Cindy moved to Miami (another island). We wanted to be candid with you all on motherhood and let’s face it, it’s rarely glamorous, but the most rewarding job in the world. Cheers to all you mom figures in the world, you make the world go around!
ON MEETING YOUR HUSBAND:
KATHY: I was part of a hiking group and every Saturday we would meet to go on an awesome adventure. This one day in the Spring of 2008, we were in a parking lot waiting for everyone in the hiking group to meet and I see this hot guy pulling in and was thinking to myself, I really hope this hottie is on this hike with us. Sure enough he was and we were inseparable the entire 5-hour hike. I had just brought a tiny water bottle and he ended up sharing his water with me the entire time. Haha! After the hike, we began dating right away and two years later, he proposed on our favorite beach on the North Shore. We just celebrated 5 years of marriage.
CINDY: I had just returned from a long weekend in Stockholm visiting my best friend from college. I had gone to dinner with a guy friend at one of my favorite neighborhood spots, L’artusi. I always sit at the bar and dine there. There weren’t two spots together, so Jory the bartender said to have a glass of wine and seats would open up soon. Then this handsome man offered to move a seat over to open up two seats. I told Jory to send him whatever he is drinking and as soon as we sat down, the handsome man asked how long me and my guy friend had been together, to which I said, “oh we are JUST FRIENDS” We chatted the entire time and went on two back to back dates the following week, always a good sign!
We had just got back from celebrating my birthday, which falls on Presidents weekend in Anguilla, it was snowy and cold in NY. We opt’d to stay in that Saturday night. Alan suggest we go out on our terrace, which had a foot of snow and had an amazing view of the Empire State Building. I was thinking ok, this is adventurous, and the rest is history!
GREATEST MOM MOMENT SO FAR:
KATHY: Gosh, there are tons! It would probably be the first time she gave me her first hug. I thought that was so sweet and she showed me her first sign of affection.
CINDY: I have so many! One of my favorite moments was when Rhys was 5 weeks and it was the crack of dawn. I had just finished breastfeeding him and he looked up at me and was cooing and smiling. It was one of the many moments he has melted my heart, but one of the first that stands out!
ADVICE TO A NEW MOM OR MOM-TO-BE:
KATHY: Don’t be afraid to ask for help! It honestly takes a village and I truly believe that.
CINDY: Don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t compare yourself to other moms.
3 BEAUTY TRICKS THAT INSTANTLY REFRESHES YOUR LOOKS:
OUR MORNING AND NIGHT SKINCARE REGIMEN:
EVERY WOMEN SHOULD OWN:
KATHY: Red lipstick. It instantly makes you look put together and fabulously chic.
CINDY: A sexy one-piece swimwear.
3 STAPLES OF YOUR CLOSET:
FAVORITE FITNESS ROUTINE:
KATHY: Yoga. I can seriously do this anywhere I go!
CINDY: Walks around Diamond head or Manhattan, pilates and boxing. I haven’t boxed since baby, but plan on getting back into it. I had a wonderful trainer in NY.
BRANDS WE LOVE FOR OUR MINI’S:
CINDY: I love these little jumpers from Janie and Jack. Zara is one of my favs. Have some really cute outfits from Catimini too! He has the cutest suit from Kenzo that I cannot wait for him to rock. It is a bit big for him now, but one day!
HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED AFTER BECOMING A MOM:
KATHY: No, I still dress for comfort rather than trends or styles. I live in resort wear all year, how better can that get?!
CINDY: I love heels, I still wear them, but not as much. Because I have been in warm locations, I live in my Hermes slides. They go with everything and can be dressy or casual.
