Staying at the new Andaz Maui at Wailea, comes the luxury of getting pampered at a new spa and I couldn’t wait to experience the ‘Awili Spa and Salon Spa. ‘Awili, meaning to blend or entwine, embraces to reveal your body’s true needs and desires.

When I spoke to Jackie, the Spa Director at ‘Awili Spa, without a doubt she highly recommended their Signature Omasake Experience. Omasake is a Japanese concept meaning faith in you. Very similar to when you eat at a traditional sushi restaurant and the Chef gives you an experience just for you. That sounded interesting, so I had to book the Omasake massage.

I checked-in 30 minutes prior to my appointment and the lovely spa attendants were there to greet me and check me in on their iPad (same concept as when you check-in to the resort). They got me settled at my private locker and I was able to get comfy in my soft, luxurious robe.

I headed over to the apothecary lounge where the real fun started! They have a whole blending bar that features locally grown fruits, herbs and plants to customize your own recipe blends of lotions and oils.

Teresa, the lovely apothecary consultant that did all of my blending was really knowledgeable and asked me all the right questions as to what I wanted to target for my massage. I’m a huge lavender lover, so we incorporated lavender infused grape seed oil, coconut oil, awapuhi nectar, lavender essential oil, awapuhi essential oil and glycerin for my massage oil. Lavender was to relax me, awaphi to soften my skin and coconut oil to make my skin glow. For my upper shoulders where I carry my stress, she recommended adding a “hot spot” treatment. We mixed jalapeño infused oil with peppermint essential oil for a hot, but cooling treatment and it was actually really amazing! Who knew that those two ingredients could be used for a massage treatment? They will also have this on file, so next time I return, they know exactly what they used. It can also be made to order to take home.

About 20 minutes of making my own massage oil treatment with Teresa, the therapist took me to my treatment room. The lights were dim, there were calm tunes playing and the bed was extremely comfortable. I was instantly in relaxation mode. After an hour-long massage, I was left feeling pampered to the nines.

In addition to what a lovely spa they have, I have to touch on their salon spa. As a huge beauty junkie like I am, I was excited to see some great products they carry, some that I’m even currently using like Davines and Tammy Fender. Davines Purifying Shampoo and Oi Conditioner have been a life savor for my scalp and long tresses. Living in Hawaii, the heat constantly blasts my hair and it helps to condition my scalp down to the ends. Not only do they benefit your hair, they create products with sustainable packaging made from renewable energy sources.

I thought this was brilliant. How many times have you had a slight polish chip off ruining your whole manicured look? Many…

Visiting many spas and getting various treatments, this would be my top spa treatment I’ve ever indulged in. It was so unique and enjoyable. I highly recommend this service to anyone that visits the ‘Awili Spa or even just visiting Maui in general. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.
