Is it just us or did it seem like fall was just here for a few weeks and then bam, the polar vortex set in? Brrr it’s cold up in here! When it comes to winter, it’s all about stepping up your game in your skin care regimen. Dry, flaky skin is one battle that we all try to control. Here are some of our winter skin savers that we swear by and have put each product to the test. Don’t let the winter cold keep you from glowing…
BODY SOAP- In the winter, our skin gets dry, including our body. We love a great body soap (bar formula), but most of the drug store bar soaps really strip our skin of all the natural oils leaving it look like an alligator. If you’re a body soap lover like we are, Kat Burki makes a beautifully scented bar soap that’s highly moisturizing with Shea and Cocoa Butters and Grapeseed and Olive Oil that leave your skin so silky and smooth. This even lasts longer than normal bar soaps, so it’s worth the price!
FACE TREATMENT- They don’t call this potion in a bottle ‘Good Genes’ for nothing. If you want instant results that make your skin look like it just got photo shopped with a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, look no further. Sunday Riley’s Good Genes is a pharmaceutical-grade, lactic acid based treatment that is an instant complexion booster and helps restore damaged skin. All skin types.
MOISTURE MASK- This Cell Revitalise Rose Mask from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare delivers botanicals and probiotics to the skin, reducing inflammation and restoring balance. It will immediately hydrate dull and dehydrated skin, leaving it luminous. Being from Hawaii, we love that there is Hawaiian Kukui Oil as it’s an old native Hawaiian treatment for dry to extremely dry skin that helps with skin problems. Rich in Omega 3, 6, & 9, it helps to revitalize, firm and remove impurities from the skin. The scent is a lovely, calming rose scent. All skin types, including sensitive.
DETOX MASK- We have two different types of masks, as both are highly important. It’s crucial to exfoliate in the harsh winter months due to dry skin that has built up and you need to exfoliate to renew the skin. Osmia’s detox exfoliating mask is an amazing, natural exfoliating treatment that helps to exfoliate, purify and acts as a deep cleansing treatment. It comes in a powder form, along with a ceramic dish and stirring spatula. It can get messy, so rinse off in the shower as they suggested. With ingredients like raw cacao, bamboo charcoal and manuka honey, be prepared to keep feeling your skin, because it’s as soft as a baby’s bottom. All skin types.
HAND CREAM- Chapped, dry hands are the worst. It hurts and not only that, dry hands really makes your hands look old. Make sure to always keep a hand cream in your purse. Botanics Deeply Moisturising Hand Cream is one of our favorites. It leaves your hands moisturized for hours without the oily, greasy feeling and is an instant relief! We like that it’s a small, travel size and doesn’t take up too much room in your bag. All skin types.
FACE CLEANSER- We are always raving about EVE LOM’s Cleansing Balm. It melts away your makeup, cleanses, tones, exfoliates and even removes waterproof makeup. This multiaward-winning cleanser is described by Vogue as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’. As a deep cleanser, it doesn’t dry your skin, leaving it so moisturized and clean. The texture it leaves your skin is ohh la la. All skin types.
FACE OIL- Every girl needs a face oil, even if you have oily skin like us. MUN No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum is an anti-aging treatment that nourishes, evens out skin tone, diminishes fine lines and leaves a glow to your skin. This is another product that we can’t live without. Adding this oil to our face really helps to keep our oily skin in check. It quickly absorbs into the skin, so it’s not left feeling greasy. This will add that great dewy finish for your makeup, as it’s a great primer too. All skin types.
TONER- After cleansing your skin, it’s always important to apply a toner to prepare maximum absorption for your serum and cream. This is a brand new toner that we’ve been using from Equitance (brightening toning lotion) and it really maintains the skin’s moisture level and brightens the skin as it removes dull-skin cells and pollution residue. One of our new favorites! All skin types.
BODY OIL- Where do we start about this amazing firming botanical body oil from African Botanics?! This anti-aging oil serum instantly hydrates thirsty skin, leaving it dewy, radiant and helps to firm the skin. As we get older, our elasticity in our skin isn’t as plump and this helps to boost collagen with a rich blend of African Marula, Baobab and Kalahari Melon Seed Oils. The scent is lovely with coffee flower infused with exotic blooms of damask rose, neroli and vanilla bean. We love the sexy sheen it gives to our skin. Don’t worry, it’s nothing like baby oil- this quickly absorbs leaving the silkiest sensation. Perfect to wear if you’ve got some skin showing too!
BLEMISH TREATMENT- When the weather changes, so does your skin and breakouts occur. Eminence makes a great serum (Award Winning!) to combat problem skin and helps to prevent future breakouts. The clear skin willow bark booster has tea tree and anise oils and acts as natural antiseptics to calm and heal inflamed skin while lactic acid refines pores. It really helps to clear any breakouts within a few days and calm any irritation.
FACE CREAM- Charlotte’s Magic Cream is a treat and transform moisturizer that hydrates lackluster skin and transforms tired skin in an instant. Charlotte calls this one of seven wonders for your skin. With a secret mix of patented anti-age ingredients, be prepared to having glowing skin in a flash and a hydrating comfort-blanket on the skin. All skin types.
EYE CREAM- A step that many people forget, but shouldn’t as eyes are the first signs of aging. Sunday Riley’s Start Over Eye Cream corrects, repairs, protects and nourishes. Immediately it plumps up fine lines and corrects puffy eyes, making you look like you’ve had your morning brew. With Yeast extract, it helps elastin production, accelerating healthy skin growth. All skin types.
